The Climate and Energy Fund launched the KLAR! program to support Austria’s regions and municipalities in adapting to climate change. In September 2024, the KLAR! adaptation region of Mistelbach-Wolkersdorf-Pillichsdorf entered the continuation phase.

Climathon 2025 focused on improving and maintaining the quality of outdoor life. Two events open to the public launched local, creative, and collaborative climate change adaptation measures for Wolkersdorf.

On April 24, 2025, Nathalie Aubourg and Johannes Selinger organized a screening of the documentary film Green City Life, followed by a discussion. And on Saturday, April 26, participants explored visions and concrete measures for the use of a municipal square and a care facility.

Citizens, students, experts, and local initiatives developed numerous approaches to cool down urban heat islands in a co-creative process. These include green corridors, shaded meeting places, and rainwater harvesting systems, as well as community planting campaigns. The use of the retirement home garden on the other hand, would include a mini-forest, a biodiversity hedge, and shared raised garden beds.
