The simulation tool developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) together with Climate Interactive is used to shed light on the levers for climate change. The simulator enables participants to evaluate and discuss the effects of various climate protection solutions in real time in a fun way.
EN-ROADs: Climate Action Intro Tool
Workshops on climate protection simulation with the tool from MIT and Climate Interactive
Use visualization and simulation to work on a complex topic.
Where and when?
Training upon request, for groups of 6-50 people,
depending on the format
in person or online
Duration? approx. 4 hours
Who? Partners of the Academy for Climate Action
Costs: upon request
Added value of the workshop:
Tool-based learning
- The En-ROADS simulator is an online tool that processes data input in real time and is freely accessible to all. By receiving immediate feedback on the effects of different measures, participants can quickly learn about the impact of the solutions.
Latest scientific data:
- The data stored in the tool is scientifically sound and up to date. This enables an objective discussion on the necessary steps for the climate transition.
A low-treshhold approach:
- All employees can take part. Also very suitable for teams so that they can discuss a specific topic.
Target Group
This workshop is for all people in organisations who want to get involved in climate protection.
What to expect
A half-day interactive workshop with a high level of insight.
In this simulation workshop, we use the En-ROADS simulator to simulate global climate action and jointly create a scenario in which average global warming remains below 1.5 or 2 degrees Celsius. This interactive workshop combines environmental, economic and social sustainability and shows how decisions in areas such as energy efficiency, transportation and renewable energy affect air quality, temperature, electricity costs, energy demand, land use and social equity.
There are two main variants: the Climate Action Workshop or a role play in which participants explore possible solutions from the perspective of different interest groups (e.g. government, industry, civil society). Both variants offer an engaging opportunity to understand climate change solutions and develop measures to combat the climate crisis. In both cases, there is enough time for an introduction, a debriefing of the content and emotional aspects as well as the definition of concrete steps for the respective organization or person.
